Over the Moon
S
teve Low one of our leading society men is convinced that 2013 is
his luckiest year yet.
Recently he married the love of his life, Gail and became stepdad to
her daughter, Olivia and son-in-law to Jean Lancaster, our choreogra-
pher.
All four are involved in our next production, ‘Whistle Down the
Wind’ in September.
This year his daughter, Tiffany Charnley, has moved up from
playing leads in a Junior society to play opposite her father, as his
daughter, Swallow . Steve and Tiffany have never performed together
on any stage and both are excited and delighted to have been given
the chance.
Seven of our members who are registered chaperones recently
looked after children taking part in the film NOBLE which will be
released in the spring of 2014.
The film tells the life story of Christine Noble who overcame
her harsh childhood in Dublin to carry out courageous work to
help and to give their childhood back to underprivileged children
in Vietnam and Cambodia.
Filming took place in Vietnam, Dublin. Liverpool and Barrow
in Furness (which was said to be more like Dublin than Dublin)
The chaperones were fortunate to meet well known actors,
amongst whom was Brendan Coyle of Downton Abbey fame.
Ken and I were responsible for chaperoning two of the young
stars, Gloria Cramer Curtis, who was playing the young Christine,
and Harry Plummer, who was playing her brother, and what
lovely well-mannered and talented children they were.
Gloria’s sister, Adriana, her identical twin, was used on set also
as Gloria’s stand in.
The only downside was that there were lots of outdoor scenes
and unfortunately it was during one of the coldest, wettest and
snowiest weeks of February which was great for filming but
terrible to stand around for hours in.
Believe me, it’s not as glamorous as you might think especially
when most of the scenes were set as slums.
It is much easier chaperoning children in the dressing rooms
during a performance!

Very many congratulations to everyone. The atmosphere
throughout the festival was terrific. Those Garrick members who
were not able to attend really missed some superb plays. Here’s
looking forward to next year’s festival.

your Association of Community Theatre will be co-sponsoring the
